It's hard to believe that this Brighton-based rock worship team have been together for 17 years but Phatfish remain as popular as ever and many are calling 'Higher' their best work to date. The title track kicks things off nicely with a memorable keyboard line, staccato guitar and a sweet vocal from Lou Fellingham. In fact, Lou is on fine form throughout the album with the band creating a classy and modern backing that never overpowers her delicate tones. "Faith Is Rising" is the most overtly Sunday morning track here and does its job perfectly but, as always, Phatfish aren't afraid to try something a little different such as a powerful reworking of the classic hymn "And Can It Be". Also great is the cleverly titled "Liar? Lunatic? Lord?" (echoing C S Lewis) that challenges those who refuse to accept that Jesus is the son of God and features some excellent musicianship, in particular the guitar work from Jos Wintermeyer and Ben Hall. 'Higher' is a brilliantly executed album that will please old and new Phatfish fans alike.

The long serving Brighton band's latest album.

Phatfish are a band that need no introduction, many years of serving and ministring has seen their music inspire a generation.

Higher is about engaging, encouraging, edifying and expressing praise. The album is typically diverse with tracks ranging from a dynamic reworking of the classic hymn And Can It Be to a highly topical track about evolution and creation. The track Higher presents the opportunity that we all have to reach our full potential through and with Christ. In Him we are released and set free. Visually, the cover artwork shows an empty bird cage to illustrate this concept.

The title track "Higher" is a wonderful bright and breezy tune. All the songs have great bible based lyrics and are challenging too. Another great album which is probably their best so far. The catchy tunes improve the more you listen to them which is just what we have come to expect from this quality band. Hard to pick out a stand out track, for me it is probably "Come on my boy". If you can see them live it's well worth as they are just as good. A definite album to have in your collection.

This is a top CD. They are an amazing band and all the band, plus Lou are great people to meet. A chance to meet them live in concert is a must, and meeting/greeting them after the show is awesome. Awesome CD.
