A Live-Aid on a shoestring album inspired by Greg Nash, bassist with Fresh Claim, and his church's drive to raise 10,000 and 10,000 signatures of protest and compassion for Casa Alianza, the charity which works with street children in Guatemala and Honduras. Recorded live and raw in front of a 200 plus crowd the album features contributions from a variety of quality British Christian acts. There are four Fresh Claim tracks, including "Did Anyone Notice", a song which Greg wrote especially for the event, and three contributions from Celtic influenced roots-cum-prog-rockers Eve And The Garden, as well as debut offerings from two newcomers, Billy Marchant and Boys From The Manor, with their own version of Greg's song. Marc Catley's Paley's Watch also played on the night and their contribution to the album comes in studio form, necessary because of the multi-instrumental roles of the band's members. They wrote a suite of three songs especially for the event, called appropriately the "Casa Alianza Suite". Okay, this album's not gonna win a Grammy for best production, it's a bit rough in places, a genuine live experience, but all the artists played for free and 95 per cent of the price you pay goes directly to the Guatemala 10,000 appeal. Frankly, this sort of direct action is surely one of the main areas that Christian musicians need to be active in, and despite the no frills approach the album contains some fine rock'n'roll.
