EMI's latest compilation features live tracks from top selling gospel acts such as Smokie Norful and Myron Butler. "Order My Steps" features female harmonies mingling with enthusiastic audience participation, and a closing male falsetto worthy of a Paul Beasley. "Sign Me Up" has lead male vocals ad-libbing from Melvin and Doug Williams, accompanied by funky sax and keys. There are some big-lunged female vocalists on display here, none more so than Tarrian LaShun Pace. The Atlanta singer-evangelist lets rip with "I Know I've Been Changed", supported by drums, keys, a guitar solo and much audience hand clapping. Tramaine Hawkins' "The Potter's House" is performed with an emphatic male-female duet as the sistah hollers "You don't have to stay in the shape that you're in/The Potter wants to put you back together again." Amen to that. These songs sound like they were tremendous fun being recorded and worshipful to boot. So, if you love transatlantic gospel music, this selection may well be worth checking out.

Gospel Music Heritage Month, observed in September, was established in 2008 to recognize gospel music for its impact on American culture. Throughout the month, Americans are encouraged to attend concerts, listen to gospel music, and learn more about the genre.

To celebrate gospel music's rich heritage, EMI Gospel presents a 12-song compilation album under the top selling Gospel's Best series. Gospel's Best - Heritage features legendary gospel artists like The Clark Sisters, Mighty Clouds of Joy, and Vanessa Bell Armstrong, in addition to contemporary artists, like Smokie Norful and VaShawn Mitchell.

Whether you're a long time gospel fan or exploring the genre for the first time, Gospel's Best - Heritage exemplifies why the genre has impacted our culture for decades.
