Fall On Me: Women In Worship Live by Vineyard Music

Recorded at two Women In Worship conferences held in the USA in the Spring of 2002, this album showcases the vocal talents of five of the Vineyard’s female worship leaders, Kim McMechan, Sheri Keller, Cindy Rethmeier, Marie Barnett and Rachel Meyers. The influence on Vineyard music worldwide of the UK worship team is illustrated by the track list: of 10 tracks here, three are UK sourced, “Surrender”, “Hungry (Falling On My Knees)” and “Be The Centre” (the publicity blurb calls them “familiar favourites”!); “Sufficient For Me” is a new song, written by Sheri and her husband Scott, and there’s a reworking of an old favourite “Isn’t He”, penned by the late John Wimber back in 1980. As is often the case with live worship, this is a good value album, the playing time is a few seconds short of 58 minutes for 10 tracks, so occasionally things get a bit drawn out – the first two tracks, for example, check in at six-and-a-half minutes and seven minutes respectively – but having said that it’s a live album, you’d never guess if you listen closely, because there seems to be no audience participation, which detracts a little from the atmosphere, although some of the irritants of live worship recordings are thereby conveniently removed. A songbook is available if you want to add some of these songs to your worship group’s repertoire: certainly “Sufficient For Me” is a good enough song to appear on an overhead projector near you in the not-too-distant future.
