Remedy Drive are no newcomers to the music scene. They have been active since 1998 releasing five independent studio albums and one live album. They have also toured extensively in the Midwest and West Coast of the USA playing over 200 gigs a year before signing to Word Records. When the four Zach brothers formed the band they originally went by the name The Aslan Band. This was changed to Remedy in 1999 before becoming Remedy Drive in 2004. On this album they have teamed up with hit making producer Ian Eskelin (All Star United) and the result is a beautifully crafted piano-driven rock record. It grabs your attention right from the beginning as opener "Stand Up" gradually builds up before launching in to a pop-punk riff that Relient K would be proud of. The title track and debut single then follows showing off the band's ability to produce anthemic choruses that will stick in your head for days. There is enough variety to keep you interested throughout the album from the driving fuzz bass on "Something Made To Last" to the more sedate and reflective "All Along". The melodies are strong throughout and the multiple layers of instrumentation and vocal harmony really add to the depth of the music. The lyrical themes are also strong and inspirational covering a wide range of emotions from love and hope through to loneliness and emptiness. There is something in 'Daylight Is Coming' to encourage anyone.
