The long awaited live package from one of the hardest working guys in the business. The DVD is Brian Houston in concert on home turf in Belfast (Probably the Best Audience in the Wurrrld) doing what he does so well - good, thought-provoking songs performed with passion, and a nice line in self-effacing humour. The CD is a compilation from various concerts, not just a sound only version of the DVD, so this is a value for money package. Brian has a knack of writing original, observational songs with a keen insight and a neat way with a lyric. For me live performance is where they work best. The version of "I Was A Kid In The '70s" on the CD (very different to the DVD) with the stories in the middle brought smiles and memories back to this fellow Belfast kid. Brian doesn't wear his spirituality on his sleeve, but it clearly informs his treatment of his subject matter - people, relationships, reflections on his own story so far. And he isn't afraid to step into uncomfortable areas ("Jesus Again"). Recommended for fans and anyone who appreciates a good song well performed. For the real deal find out when he is next playing near you, go, enjoy, and applaud loudly. Between gigs this will do nicely.
