Another compilation from Kingsway with a slightly misleading title (more appropriate might have been 'Spot The Songs That Are Actually Celtic'), this is actually a reasonable package of songs where the arrangements at least have plenty of that Irish or Scottish feel and instrumentation that the marketing suits label 'Celtic'. This is a pleasant 3-CD collection featuring arrangements of songs such as "Oh Lead Me" (Martin Smith), "Before The Throne Of God Above" (Bancroft/Cook) and "I Will Offer Up My Life" (Matt Redman), a batch of hymns and one or two composers (like Liz Fitzgibbon and Sammy Horner) with a genuinely Celtic approach to their songwriting. While this album contains recordings previously released on albums by the likes of Stuart Townend, Keith Getty, Robin Mark, Sammy Horner and many more, the sleeve is the usual uninformative item that Kingsway specialise in. Still, if you like many of the 50 songs here and are partial to a bit of uillean pipes, fiddles, bodhrans etc this wide ranging selection may be just the thing for you.

Compilation of Celtic-themed songs from such acts as Liz Fitzgibbon, Robin Mark and Sammy Horner.

Celtic music is the music of the peoples calling themselves Celts - particularly the Irish and Scots, but also including people from France, Spain and Portugal. Its influence has spread around the world, because musicians from those countries have emigrated far and wide. Riverdance helped to bring Celtic music to a much wider public, as did the best-selling recordings of Clannad and Enya. Christian music has found Celtic music a rich source of inspiration - both musically and in terms of its spiritual links, which hark back to very ancient Christian traditions.

This 50-track new recording takes some of the most popular songs and hymns that have emerged in Celtic Christian music – for example Before The Throne Of God Above, How Deep The Father’s Love, In Christ Alone, Fairest Lord Jesus – and also introduces some wonderful new songs that add a contemporary flavour to this oldest of traditions.
