Reviewed by Doug Holland

This eponymous EP is the debut offering from the five piece, Sussex-based folk group. It is folk, but not quite as many people will know it, with a traditional and gentle folk basis (guitar and violin sound, lyrics calling heavily on images from nature) with an equally gentle electronica to produce a result which presents a very individual and signature sound. The band's stated aim is to fuse music with poetry and illustration in an overall package, and while the effect of this is likely to be more obvious and stronger when experienced in a live setting the thrust of what they seek to achieve does come across successfully in this offering (seven tracks, a little over 20 minutes of music in total). As an end-to-end listen for the uninitiated there is something of a challenge to follow the detail of the musical journey they describe as being one "from a place of despair to a place of hope," but there is significant enjoyment to be had from simply stepping into the music and letting the poetic lyrics (some of which are especially beautiful and deserve special mention) and the varied musical ideas wash over you.
