Beth Moore is the best selling writer and this is a CD companion to her devotional, co-compiled with missionary Kim Davis from accounts of over 300 Southern Baptist missionaries with the International Mission Board, and designed to inspire awareness, prayer and connection. It features worship-leading from people like Brian Doerksen, Paul Baloche, Darlene Zschech and Robin Mark, plus high production values from names such as Travis Cottrell and Paul Mills (whose work on Robin Mark's epic 'Days Of Elijah' features here). Individual tracks are segued to great effect into over an hour's music with few pauses, interspersing powerful anthemic declarations over the nations (eg, Israel Houghton's awesome song "We Speak To Nations", one of five tracks not apparently available elsewhere) with songs of quiet thankfulness reflecting God's protection on the mission field (eg, Miriam Webster's lovely "You Have Made Me Glad"). Don Moen's account of James A Cowan's "When It's All Been Said And Done", meditating on what counts for God in our lives at the final reckoning, moves aptly into Paul Baloche's "Offering", a heart response to God. One big reservation though. Musically this is more 'western' than 'world'. Celtic? Yes! African? Token nods. Asia? Eastern Europe? Nothing happening. Let's bring God to the nations; but let them bring their colour to the kingdom!
