A near-choral version of acappella from a Wisconsin group. |
|
Reviewed by Tony Cummings Despite a decidedly unimaginative name for this group from Wisconsin, Praise Team are a pleasant, easy-on-the-ear and technically impressive group of acappella harmonizers. Male and female voices blend in an attractive way and with 12 members their sound takes on a choral direction on occasions. The songs on this eight-track mini-album are covers with such composers as Russell Fragar, Annie Herring, Pete Sanchez and Tommy Walker cropping up on the composer credits. Group leaders Michael and Wendy Blakely, and indeed the members of the Northtown Church, are to be congratulated for developing such precise vocal talents.

Ken Pittman of Acadisc.com wrote the following review of the CD:
Although it is only a 8 song album, the 8 songs are each well done and are a good mix of well-known favorites and a couple less well-known praise and worship songs.
I was particularly impressed with a very well done version of Reuben Morgan's "Hear Our Praises" and Anne Herrings's "There's a Stirring." I was also glad to hear the four-part song, "Someday," recorded and arranged very well. Overall, the Praise Team did an excellent job and I look forward to future albums by the group.
