America's Common Bond was made up of Steve Durham on guitar, Chuck Cummings on drums and Kenny Samuels on bass and lead vocals and this album was their fourth from back in the day when your music was served to you on two sides of a 12 inch vinyl album. It is a fantastic slice of '80s new wave with angst ridden vocals, songs of passion and a simple drums, bass and guitar line up. It deserves to be filed in rock buffs' collections alongside The Call, The Choir, The 77s and Daniel Amos. Talking of whom, the DA frontman Terry Taylor helms this project so the sound is crisp and the arrangements are fab. There's even a cover version of one of my favourite Daniel Amos songs, "Walls Of Doubt", which really works. Other highlights include the driving "Tarry" with its clapping and catchy chorus which is probably the most upbeat thing on here, and then there's the atmospheric title track which rides along on top of the fluid rhythm section and Steve Durham's great guitar work.
