It’s a unique combination, an ex-alcoholic, a Senior Legal Adviser to a Magistrates’ Court, and Almighty God. These two men have known each other for over thirty years having met in court on numerous occasions. Once upon a time they were ‘enemies’ in that when their paths crossed one got punished as a result of his criminal lifestyle. They are now great friends as a result of a life changing experience. They led completely different lives, one a Christian from being young, the other, an alcoholic for thirty years spending a large proportion of his time in prisons and mental hospitals, but at one point their paths in life converged and the One who changed both their lives made all the difference.

They are now involved in 'Reaching Prisoners for Christ', which involves donating books (so far over 1300 copies) and visiting prisons to share their story, showing that God is able to change the life of anyone who will repent and receive His life-changing power. John Cartledge has also set up Malak Christian Books having built a centre in Tamale, Ghana.
