If ever there was a band that had a special relationship with the UK, it would be Texans Liberation Suite. From their roots in the Jesus Movement, their debut recordings in the UK in the mid '70s through to their solid Jesus focus ministry, there are many bands that could learn a great deal from the straight forward musical and ministry approach of Liberation Suite. The band haven't exactly swamped us with albums over the past 25 years but 'Fight For The Light' has been well worth waiting for as the band reveal they have wrapped their timeless message in a classic blues rock sound. The upbeat "Oh Lord You Know (That I Feel So Fine)" kicks everything off and there are plenty of highlights. The title cut and the seriously funky "To Serve Mankind" both serve notice on contemporary culture that opposes the Gospel of Christ. In fact a great many of the songs on the album powerfully proclaim a radical message in the face of a culture that is moving further and further away from God. The band let what's left of their hair down on rockier numbers like "Don't Forget About Love" and "Cold Front" and across the board we're talking about a gritty classic blues rock sound that will never go out of fashion. Timeless message and classic music, welcome back Liberation Suite.
