As a Christian it is refeshingly rare to find a movie that carries a clear presentation of values I can align myself with; where people interact in a language and lifestyle I can relate to. As a husband it is equally rare to find a movie that speaks into the dynamics of marriage relevantly, positively and truthfully. Fireproof does all this with a resonance of truth that causes you to be drawn into the characters and relate to the nature of their relationships. Whether it is the dynamics of a husband/wife relationship, a father/son or son/mother, this movie will draw you in emotionally and hook you with the lump in your throat. Christians live a life where a relationship with God is part of everyday life and Fireproof reflects the genuineness of this without becoming cringy. Of course across the diversity of the Christian community our experience of faith may have different expressions in how we live our lives, and Fireproof would present a more evangelical lifestyle, but when it comes to movies with an unapologetic modern Christian lifestyle presentation Fireproof is easily one of the best movies I have seen.
