Falling Up - Discover The Trees Again: The Best Of Falling Up

Now this is more like it. With an abundance of bands that are fitting into festival sound of Coldplay or Keane, Falling are a refreshing smack in the back of the head. Falling Up are a rock band very much in the vein of Incubus and Linkin Park, performing in a style that the band themselves describe as "pash rock". 'Discover The Trees' is a best of CD harvested from the band's relatively short yet prolific history and features 14 of their best tub-thumping tracks. Falling Up are used to being at the top spot with many of their songs reaching the number one spot in the American Christian Rock charts and listening to this selection of songs you can easily see why. The opening track "Broken Heart", taken from their first album 'Crashings', sets the scene and it doesn't let up from there. "Exit Calypsan" taken from 'Dawn Escapes' has a real haunting feel to it that would have sat very comfortably with Evanescence. "Hotel Aquarium" is one of my favourites and could easily have given The Lost Prophets a run for their money. The whole album ebbs and flows as the songs range from fairly heavy rock to a more melodic pop/rock ("Good Morning Planetarium"). The band were hoping to get back into the studio in September 2008 to record yet another album. By their previous standards, they should be releasing another best of album by 2012, and I'm already looking forward to it.
