Worship leader Gareth may have relocated to the USA but he is still unmistakably English. With this, his third album, Gareth continues to shine as a powerful songwriter who gets to the heart of the matter with his honest lyrics. From the anthem-like opener "You Make Everything Work Out" through the more reflective "Even As I Look Upon Your Face", to the gorgeous rock reworking of Charles Wesley's "Come Thou Long Expected Jesus" that closes the album, there is definitely something here for everyone. Recorded in Nashville with John Hartley producing, the arrangements are top quality with both the straight rockers like "Clap Your Hands" and the worshipful "We Exalt You", handled with equal aplomb. Gareth's voice might be a bit of an acquired taste for some but there is no denying the passion that comes through in all the songs but most particularly in those quieter moments where the simplicity of the lyrics combined with that passion really hits home. While it is quite possible to just sit and listen to this album for the music alone it will not be long before the listener is joining in and worshiping God as these are all excellent congregational worship songs most of which work all the way from a Soul Survivor big top setting to the small church gathering with one guitar. A must have worship album for the modern age.
