Third Day in the past have rocked. Official. Many a famous band have taken too long to come up with a new studio album and when it has been released people have been disappointed. Third Day have done the former but also are a rare breed.... this album is their best yet. I could wax lyrical about each song, what it means spiritually, etc, but I won't. For me, dc Talk's 'Jesus Freak' is the benchmark by which Christian rock is measured. Now Atlanta's premier purveyors of sanctified Southern rock have given us a stable mate. 'Come Together' contains praise and worship focused lyrics while Mac Powell's bluesy growl just gets better. He has also learned the art of control as, too, the band who have created 12 faultless tracks. There is more subtlety here and just when you expect a 'volume 11' type attack it doesn't. Don't get me wrong, they still can rock, but they have matured and there is a real skill in letting your instruments do the talking. The production quality is top rate. If Third Day was a wine producer, this latest offering would be vintage status. Can be enjoyed now and will also improve with age. Naturally, it is well bodied with loads of different textures. So go and buy one now, but it's not available in your local Sainsbury...yet!
