Dave Godrey has done some stirring work in children's ministry and although now past child-rearing age myself, I must confess a liking for Dave's "Holy Washing Machine". So I approached Dave's latest album with more enthusiasm than I would have been able to muster if it had been one of those dreaded Cedarmont Kids albums. 'Zoom' benefits from an excellent band (featuring a couple of members of Yfriday) playing real instruments rather than the cheap-sounding synth sounds often served up on children's albums. Also, Dave has lost none of his winning ways with memorable songs be they exhortations to praise ("Praising"), space travel flights of fancy (the title track), a love song to our Heavenly Father ("I Love My Dad") and one for my surreal tastes ("Nose Explosion"). Superior children's music which deserves to sell by the bushel.
