Many contemporary gospel albums have been an uneasy mix of full on urban sounds and traditional elements, but this, the second from the PAJAM production maestro and singer, doesn't fall into that trap. In fact, it is one of the most convincing full on urban projects ever to come out of the Church. The standout tracks are the shuddering R&B groove "Jump Jump" where sister Kierra 'Kiki' Sheard adds her soulful interjections to get us all to indulge in "praise jumping" (try it at your church today); "Dance" where another special guest, Kirk Franklin, helps us to "dance through the night"; and "Afraid" where J Moss sings he's "Not gonna be afraid no more/Pain just walked out the door." There are plenty of other effective contributions from the guests Mr Moss has assembled including Karen Clark Sheard, Marvin Winans and Byron Cage while those who like their music slow and soulful will go for the slinky "Holding On". Urban gospel of superlative quality.
