I suspect the hugely talented Mr Chapman records his Christmas albums while thinking about something else. This latest package offers songs like "Silver Bells", "Winter Wonderland" and "It Came Upon A Midnight Clear" and the effect is distinctly underwhelming. A cobbled together package of new and old recordings, this does no one any favours. As he demonstrated on his last pop rock set, Chapman is a top rate artist but seemingly, like many other Nashville talents, he's happy to sleepwalk through Christmas recordings enveloped in predictable arrangements and OTT orchestrations. Steven, we deserve better from you.
