The opening was pretty standard, lots of good, fast moving action from various camera angles, topped by superb sound with the vocals clearly heard above the music (bands and sound engineers take note!). Half way through the easy-on-the-eye viewing, the concert took an unexpected turn in the shape of a stunning 20 minute multimedia performance telling the powerful true story of the lasting legacy of American missionaries in Ecuador who were killed by the Auca Indians they were reaching out to in 1956. The 'Beyond The Gates Of Splendour' segment was visually arresting and musically astounding. All six songs on the soundtrack were a tour de force to inspire the "God Follower", a same-titled track at the core of the presentation. I would challenge any would-be-disciple of Christ to remain unmoved after learning of this story and its impact. I first learnt of it when I was given a book written by Elisabeth Elliot, the widow of one of the five men martyred, at my baptism in 1975. Many a Christian would have heard of Jim Elliot's famous words on discipleship: "He is no fool who gives that which he cannot keep to gain that which he cannot lose." Backed with brilliant songs like "For The Sake Of The Call" and "No Greater Love", Steven Curtis Chapman has produced a clear message to "Live Out Loud" the mission of Jesus.
